What Is A Martyrdom

Blog By: Monique Stallings

“The concept of martyrdom is closely tied to the idea of self-sacrifice and loyalty to God above all else. Jesus himself exemplified this principle through his own sacrificial death on the cross, willingly laying down his life for the salvation of humanity. In the Gospel of John, Jesus declares, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). (Bible Wisdom Hud, 2025).

The word martyr has freely been passed around when it deals with dealing with your faith and how that looks from a religious standpoint. From a religious standpoint a martyr is someone who has their faith and believe in something other than their self, but it does not mean that just because they throw a few scriptures around that they are truly followers of Christ. Indeed, when you are willing to die for the teachings and practices of others for Christ, then and only then should someone call a follower of Christ.

It is amazing how people who speak other than what Christ speaks and with truth can ever be called a martyr because they threw a few scriptures according to his or her religion and called it # Christ. These people that do this is no better than the Scribes and Pharisees of Jesus times. Indeed, Jesus called them, “A brew of vipers” and this is what we are seeing in this United States. Furthermore, I am going to stand up for truth and speak truth to the matter. Jesus is not into religion, but He is into relationships. Jesus is into kingdom business, not worldly matters that does nothing to profit His kingdom. Jesus is into telling the truth and exposing the devils lies. Adding on, the true martyrs was those that were burned at the stake for the gospel. Those who were Jesus’s apostles and people today who are not a shame to rebuke people who have taken a lie for truth and say it is all in the name of Jesus.
