Psychology Is The Study OF The Soul

Generalized Anxiety

Definition Of General-Anxiety Disorder

"The definition of generalized anxiety disorder is known as an experience excessive anxiety under most circumstances and worry about practically anything." (Turk & Mennin, 2011)

Now, based on this emotional disorder, we are going to look at a study that was done on generalized anxiety disorder and some examples that could cause this type of disorder to show up in one's life. I want to express that we are children of the Lord, made up of a body, soul, and spirit, and today we will focus on an important emotional disorder called, "General Anxiety Disorder."

According to my study, generalized anxiety disorder is very common in our Western word because the surveys suggest that as many as 4 percent of the U.S. population have formed symptoms of the disorder in given years, in addition to a rate that carriers across Canada, Britain, and other Western countries (Kessler et al., 2010, 2005; Ritter Blackmore & Heimberg, 2010); moreover, it shows how much this disorder has increased since all these plagues, as well as catastrophic events took place. For example, when covid and the different strains manifested internationally combined with globally, and cases with people who contracted monkey pox, pneumoniq, etc. I just named a few so we could get an understanding how this disorder could creeps up into our lives and we didn't know how or why, while others understood through Biblical teachings this would come, but we still have an emotional time dealing with the reasons.

Now, I am going to discuss how the "Sociocultural perspective views are socially combined with multicultural factors that can and will affect this emotional disorder to creep into one's life and take over" (Comer, 2014). According to the study the authors found that this disorder most likely will develop in individuals who are facing ongoing societal conditions that are dangerous with the manifestation dealing with tension, anxiety, fatigue as well as sleep disturbances found (Jacob, Prince, & Goldberg, 2010; Stein & Williams 2010). The study went on to explain this type of this order deals with one's social status finance, living conditions, education, medical, and food. The basic things in life. This disorder affects both the lower and higher level of income individuals.

Moreover, we are seeing this manifest in all three economic class of people in the United States today. The statue quo is just not about the lower income class of individuals today. Generalized Anxiety Disorder is manifesting in all walks of life, background, gender, and race of people.

Here is a list from the DSM-5 Checklist that you need to be aware of when you see these signs in yourself, or someone else close to you:

  1. "Excessive or ongoing anxiety and worry, for at least six months, about two or more activities or events."

  2. "At least three of the following symptoms: restlessness, fatigue, poor concentration, irritability, muscle tension, sleep disturbance."

  3. "Significant distress or impairment" (Comer, 2014)

How Do We as Children of God Deal With It From A Biblical Perspective

Now, we are going to utilize some simple instructions on how to cope with this emotional disorder by:

  1. Recognize what you are dealing with. I gave you some information to put you in the right direction. Do your research first.

  2. Next, I would pray and seek the Lord throught the Holy Spirit to give you directions and instructions about where you should go for help and who should you talk with about your issues.

  3. Then, when you find out what were the cause(s) and come to terms as to how it emotionally affected you. You will then be able to start the process of dealing with the emotional disorder.

  4. Remember, you will need to pray, stand on scriptures because we are spiritual, but our emotions may need to also be controlled by natural medicines, and or, therapy. We also need to keep the words of God close to us, in addition the Holy Spirit who can help us through the process.

  5. Just because we made have this disorder, it does not mean we are possessed, but it can be motivated by the situation we may be in. In other words, always get the Lord take on what's going on with you, or someone you may know in order to be equippped for what is going on with the situation.

Scriptures That Can Be Utilized To Help With This Changing World

  1. "Jesus Christ never changes! He is the same yesterday today, and forever" (Hebrews 13

  2. " Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you whereve" (Joshua 1:9).

  3. "You were taught, regarding your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires: "to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to be like God in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:22-24).

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7) (Deuteronomy 31:6).
